After your Servidor Cloud has been created, you will likely want to point a domain to the server. This article will show you how to point a domain to a Servidor Cloud, so that your website can be accessed using your domain.

Requirements

  • A Servidor Cloud (any operating system)
  • A domain name

If the domain you want to use with your Servidor Cloud is contained in another package, you will need to alter the domain's DNS settings in order to route traffic to your Servidor Cloud.

To find your Servidor Cloud's IP address, log in to the Cloud Panel. You can access the Cloud Panel directly at https://cloudpanel.ionos.com/ for accounts in the United States.

For accounts in other markets, replace the Top-Level Domain (TLD) with the appropriate country code. For example:

And so forth.

  • Go to Infrastructure > Servers.

Point a Domain Hosted by Another Registrar

There are two options if you have an existing domain name which is hosted by another registrar. If a different registrar is providing nameserver service for your domain:

Option 1: Transfer the domain name to 1&1 IONOS.

  • Pro: Allows you to manage all of your domains together through the user-friendly 1&1 IONOS Control Panel.
  • Con: Domain name transfers can take up to 48 hours. Authorization is required. If the domain name is locked at the registrar, the process to unlock and transfer it can be complicated.

Option 2: Keep the domain name with your current domain provider.

  • Pro: No need to go through the domain transfer process.
  • Con: You will need to edit the DNS on their system to point the domain name to your server.
